The Bearer of Bad News

I'm very sorry for the long hiatus, but I've been incredibly busy and, well, maintaining this blog isn't the highest on my priority list.

That being said, I'm sad to say my youtube account, containing a number of wonderful Jekyll and Hyde movies, has been terminated at last for copyright violations. I'm sad to no longer be able to provide any material there, and to lose the use of a youtube account in general, but otherwise I'm at peace with it.

It was only a matter of time, after all, since I had so many movies there, and only three of them needed to be noticed for it to go. It was great while it lasted, and simply knowing that while it did I was able to allow thousands of people to watch Jekyll & Hyde films & visual media who otherwise would not have been able to, and that a lot of attention and discussion was generated by it, makes me glad I did it. I regret that it was taken down, but I don't regret what I did. Sharing what you love, even when hardly nobody else seems to love it, is what fans do. Posting on youtube not only allowed me to share and raise awareness of the Jekyll and Hyde movies I love, but also to witness the love and appreciation others had for them too.

What will I do from here on out? Well, when I have time (which may not be for a while yet) I plan to go through my blog here and remove all the dead links to the videos that were on my youtube account. Then I will go on a campaign to upload and link to multiples copies of those lot films on video hosting sites. I also have a lot of other things I wish to do with this blog, but sadly this youtube development has set me back. I'll try to return here and upkeep it when I can.

    1. From what I've searched through it seems that there aren't any walk/visitation guides to the locations featured in the original Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story, probably because there are very few definite locations mentioned in the book, and those that were mentioned, were not the most important places, like Dr. Jekyll's house.

Here's a list of all the real-life locations I was able to pick out from the book:
--Cavendish Square (where Dr. Lanyon lives)
--Soho (the neighborhood in which Hyde keeps his apartment)
--Regent's Park (where Jekyll accidentally transforms into Hyde after successfully repressing the transformation for a while)
--Portland Street (Hyde goes to an unnamed hotel here to write a letter to Lanyon about fetching his drugs from Jekyll's lab)
--Gaunt Street (Utterson names this as where he lives)

I hope you have a great time in London (I'm quite jealous, I wish I could get a chance to visit), and that you're able to visit at least one of these locations. I'm glad to hear you enjoy my blog! Thanks so much for stopping by. :)

  2. I just wanted to say that I love this blog. I discovered it a while back and bookmarked it. I only had time to watch a few videos at the time, and it saddens me that YouTube has removed them, as they do with so many great videos. I will certainly be keeping my eye out for updates from you. Thanks for all that you share with us J&H fans.

  3. Hi,
I've been visiting your site for a while (once every few months or so). Since you wrote a new post (i.e. you're not forgetting this project), I thought I'd say "hi". And "thank you".

I find it really helpful to have so many resources collected here. When I need to get my J&H fix, I come here. And it's a shame they closed down your YouTube. (I did manage to find the song "I Bought a Bicycle" elsewhere, though :)

If you'd like a modest contribution to the cause, I know a movie adaptation which isn't listed in here. It's a 1985 USSR film, in Russian (lead actor Innokentij Smoktunovskij as Jekyll).
It follows the book's plot fairly closely (the most faithful movie adaptation I've seen yet), but makes a few interesting changes too.
If you like, I can try to create subtitles for it (I speak Russian), and then get it to you somehow.

I don't have an account here, so if you wish to reply, my email's steerkite@yahoo.com

Thanks again for all the work you've put into this!
